The once self proclaimed ‘regular degular shmegular chick from the Bronx’, rapper Cardi B has quickly taken over the summer with her infectious Top 30 bop ‘Bodak Yellow’.

Can we call it Bop of the Summer?

An official contender for Song of the Summer, Bodak Yellow has reached No. 1 on iTunes and SoundCloud charts and has seen steady growth in radio play around the country.

According to billboard, “Cardi B joins an exclusive club of female rappers to have reached the Hot 100’s top 30 with a rap song on their own (without any featured or other lead acts). Since 2010, the group includes only Nicki Minaj, Young M.A. and now Cardi B. Young M.A. took her debut hit “OOOUUU” to No. 19 in November 2016.”

So what makes Bodak Yellow such a Bop?

According to the internet, “Bodak Yellow” is a hood ass, extraordinarily catchy record. The hook, the beat, her lyrics: it all works. Cardi sounds so sure of herself, it’s difficult not to believe and rap along with every word. Her shit feels like early Lil’ Kim, the way the fellas react to her bars. That beat drops and people go nuts.”

So is it Bop of the Summer?

For us, Bodak Yellow is our official #FreeishApproved Bop of the Summer. You just can’t deny Bodak Yellow’s impact and litness. We see it for Cardi B.
